1989 1200cc Evolution Sportster

    This is my personal street bike, bought new in 1989 and never ridden by anyone else, never raced, never hit the rev limiter, never dropped. Click the image for a larger view.
    Only 5,800 original miles.
    Originally 883, now with 1200 conversion.
    Heads ported & flowed by Branch Flowmetrics, including combustion chambers re-shaped to performance “bathtub” closed-chamber quench design (like the late Buell “Thunderstorm” heads), larger valves and seats, special springs and retainers.
1989 1200cc Evolution Sportster

    Cylinders bore & honed by Branch Flowmetrics with Wiseco 9.5:1 forged pistons and special lightweight taper bore wrist pins.
    Mikuni HS40 40mm carburetor kit by Branch Flowmetrics, including special ported manifold and K&N high flow air filter element, with spare jets.
    Andrews Products “V8” cams and chrome-moly pushrods.
    Crane “HI-4” single-fire ignition with dual Dyna coils.
    Branch/Jardine header with SuperTrapp muffler (also includes one set of 1.75” drag pipes).
    White Brothers fork lowering kit.
    Stock 4-speed transmission.
    Koni shorter rear shocks.
    Tinted flyscreen windshield and includes second full-size windshield, new, never installed.
    23 tooth (very tall) countershaft sprocket installed.
    Note: this is an older picture, the bike has been sitting covered in the garage since last season, needs clean-up, and the turn signals have been removed.
